Additionally, you’ll gain practical experience in seconding both traditional and sport climbs, giving you the skills to participate in a variety of climbing scenarios.

Learn to Trad Climb
This two-day course is designed to equip you with the essential skills needed to lead traditional (trad) climbs safely and confidently. You’ll develop a solid understanding of gear placement, anchor building, ropework, and lead belaying, with a strong focus on decision-making and safe practice throughout.
The course begins with route selection and guidebook interpretation, followed by practical instruction on trad gear—what to carry, how to place it, and how to assess placements effectively. As you progress, you’ll build and use anchors, manage rope systems, and develop the skills to lead your first trad pitches under guidance.
We’ll also introduce basic problem-solving and emergency techniques to help prepare you for real-world scenarios on the rock.
Prior Experience: Some previous climbing experience and a good level of general fitness required. Participants should already be operating at the level of a competent second.

Performance coaching
This course is perfect for those looking to climb harder grades, but maybe lack the confidence needed. Trad climbing can feel intimidating for many climbers, but with the right approach, it doesn’t have to be a barrier. With careful planning, strategic route selection, and the right mindset, even the most challenging routes can be tackled with confidence.
In this course, we’ll help you develop your ‘head game,’ empowering you to trust your gear and climb smoothly. Together, we’ll focus on tactics for successful onsight or redpoint climbing, refining your gear placements, and learning to stay composed under pressure.
For 1:2 sessions, we’ll coach you alongside your regular climbing partner, using a separate rope. While you climb, I’ll be right beside you, offering tailored advice and techniques. We’ll focus on addressing specific issues as they arise, including advanced ropework and strategies to help you climb harder and with more confidence.

Climbing Rescue Skills

This course is ideal for aspiring Mountain Climbing Instructors (MCIs) and Rock Climbing Instructors (RCIs), as it provides practical, hands-on experience in managing climbing emergencies.
Prior Experience: You should be confident in seconding routes graded Diff or higher and have a solid understanding of how to build secure anchors at the top of a crag or pitch.

Alpine skills course
This two-day course is designed to prepare you for independent mountaineering in the Alps. Whether you're planning your first alpine trip or looking to refine your existing skills, this course will give you the tools and confidence to move safely and efficiently in glaciated, technical terrain.
The focus is on practical, safe techniques. You'll learn how to move quickly and securely over varied ground using short-pitching and moving together, as well as how to manage risk and make good decisions in alpine terrain. We’ll cover glacier travel and crevasse rescue, including how to rope up, arrest a fall, and carry out an effective rescue using pulley systems.
You’ll also develop the skills to manage complex descents, with instruction in multi-pitch abseiling and anchor selection. The aim is to build competence in key alpine techniques so you can move independently and with confidence on your own objectives.
Prior Experience: This course is ideal preparation for anyone heading to the Alps or similar mountain environments, and is suitable for those with prior experience in hillwalking, climbing, or mountaineering. Location: Lake District or North Wales (non-glaciated terrain, skills-focused)

Introduction to Mountaineering
This two-day course is for walkers and scramblers looking to take the next step into more technical ground. If you're keen to progress onto Grade 2 and 3 scrambles or into easier mountaineering terrain, this course will give you the skills and confidence to do so safely.
You'll learn how to move efficiently and securely over steeper, more exposed terrain using both unroped and roped techniques. We'll cover route choice, movement skills, spotting, simple ropework, and how to use a rope to protect yourself and others on scrambles. You'll also gain a solid foundation in selecting and using natural anchors, placing gear, and building basic belays when needed.
The emphasis is on decision-making, safety, and building confidence to move independently on more committing ground. By the end of the course, you'll have a better understanding of how to approach harder scrambles with sound judgement and solid skills.
